Still Gilmore=Stars Hollow, Ichabod=Sleepy Hollow, and Lynn=Butcher Holler, so it would be strange that you have that tenuous connection between many of these oddly assembled characters/people and for the actual meant for connection not have anything to do with that set of coincidences.
It would be difficult for fictional characters to have sex with Frank Sinatra, especially two that were minors during his lifetime, so that possibility's out.

2. What do I know about the Basques? Spanish, mainly in the Pyrenees near the French border. Favorite color is orange (learned that from the Tour de France), something about an original language, and a few of them occasionally blow stuff up. None of that is any help, so I'll guess badminton. answer.

7. Oh, Harry Potter. I kept reading that as Henry Potter, from MASH. Henry was in the calvary and Ichabod rode a horse...but none of that matters if it's Harry...also it doesn't matter because it's actually Sherman Potter who replaced Henry Blake...sheesh. I know nothing of Lorelei and little of Loretta Lynn (other than the movie and I preferred Sissy Spacek's singing). Don't know that much about Rundgren either. Thanks to some wiki research, I think I've uncovered the correct answer. Don't look if you don't want the help:
Loretta Lynn: grew up in Butcher Holler (regional pronunciation of Hollow)
Harry Potter: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; but hallow doesn't really fit. There is Godric's Hollow, a fictional village in the series.
Lorelei Gilmore: Gilmore Girls takes place in Stars Hollow
Ichabod Crane: Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Rundgren: Hermit of Mink Hollow

ReplyDeleteI was about to say I also have a german grandfather so I dispute the genetic connection. But, while my paternal grandparents were both from German communities in Michigan, they're probably 2nd generation US citizens.

I don't text, so that's not a problem for me. While I'd love an iPhone , and expect The Wife will spend a couple lunch hours at the Apple Store, we'll wait. Hard drive isn't large enough to replace my iPod (I'm about to max out the 40GB iPod), and I don't use a cell phone enough to really spend that kind of money. But...if you stop thinking of it as a phone and as a wireless computer that fits in your shirt pocket, it is very very tempting. I'll let the early adapters enjoy the first taste and maybe next year Apple will come out with a decent hard drive.
Ideally, the next generation iPod will be the iPhone without the phone stuff. Give me an 80GB widescreen video iPod with full wifi capability and that would just about be my perfect app.

ReplyDeleteMan, that recap depressed the hell out of me; I no longer feel bad about having missed the show. Maybe that's one reason why the show failed. There was a time I'd take enjoyment in a depiction of the misery of the human condition and I guess that time has passed. Kind of like why I stopped watching ER and other hospital shows--no longer found any entertainment value in watching people die in hospitals, no matter how well the story was told. Not that I've given up on all dramas, but when it comes to the few minutes a day I can waste watching TV I'm usually looking for something lighter (examples: 30 Rock and Man Vs. Wild).

ReplyDeleteI completely missed the fact that Holst did not include an Earth movement. He also did not do an Earth movement, but for most of his life Pluto's existance was unknown.
The Planets were written between 1914 and 1916. Pluto was discovered in 1930, 4 years before his death.
Earth is the answer, Pluto is wrong.
