Quote of the day

Michael Schaub, at Bookslut
Who's responsible for introducing celebrities to poetry? Was it Ally Sheedy? Whoever it was, I wish I knew how to kick you.

  1. Ally Sheedy.

First time I ever heard of her, and in the exact contemporary time, she had written "She Was Nice to Mice," which I think appeared in "Seventeen" magazine back when I was a teen.

And no, I didn't just Google that. I'm trusting in my own mind, from which the instant connection emanated.

The poetry part, though .... Hmmmmm.

  2. The first I recall hearing about Ally Sheedy, she did a couple episodes of Hill Street Blues as a teenager performing sexual favors on one of the detectives. A couple months later, wargames came out.

  3. I should add, I have nothing against Ally Sheedy. Just thought it was a funny line. Plus, if you read bookslut for any length of time, you'll realize that post was one of the few where Michael didn't use the word "fuck."
