Personal detail of a pointless nature

Wherein sometimes it's ok not to have leftovers

Thanksgiving reservations have been made at one of the Columbia Restaurants. Most restaurants serving a holiday buffet will unapologetically assault you with the bill. Especially for children's portions, it isn't uncommon to see a charge approaching $20. So I commend the Columbia for not only keeping the adult price under $20, but for the very reasonable under 10 price of $4.95.

I can understand jacking up prices on a holiday. Hard to staff on those days, and those that do come in generally expect double time.

But finding a place that doesn't do this should earn them some extra loyalty from their customers, so long as their food is still tasty and comparable to other joints of similar style and price.

I used to go to Vegas for Thanksgiving and skip the family gatherings, was surprised to see conventions scheduled for that long weekend each year.

What we've done a couple times, and should do more of, is travel out of country Thanksgiving week. The Carribbean and Central America are still off-season rates that time of year and it's the end of hurricane/rainy season, so you'll most likely have good weather. Since it isn't their holiday, everything is still open.
